چکیده

Ain Sefra is part of the Ksour Mountains and it's situated in southwestern Algeria, where climate arid. The study area progressively facing regression degradation exacerbated by change. These trends point to a significant acceleration desertification drought loss production systems that play critical social, ecological, economic role region. To better understand natural hazard dryness impact change, we used various indices remote sensing data. Hence, analyzing precipitation records from 1965 2021, through several indices, droughts were identified as recurring phenomenon. Moreover, frequency successive dry years relatively high. There three most extended continuous periods. first phase lasted seven 1980 1987, second twelve 1994 2006, third nine 2012 2021. Calculation Modified Soil-Adjusted Vegetation Index (MSAVI) for five multidate satellite images allowed us follow evolution land use elements this region 1977 2017. Indeed, these multi-temporal reveals considerable growth sands, moving towards north northeast zone during last decades. combination seems be promising; whose results are valuable tools guidance decision support local regional authorities.

Assessment the effect of drought and land use change on vegetation using Landsat data

Drought is a disaster phenomenon especially in arid and semi-arid areas. Vegetation and its production play a main role in the social and economic issues in every country. In this study, Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data have been used to monitor drought and the vegetation condition in Sonqor Abad in, Kermanshah province.  Meteoro...

Drought Variability and Land Degradation in Semiarid Regions: Assessment Using Remote Sensing Data and Drought Indices (1982-2011)

We analyzed potential land degradation processes in semiarid regions worldwide using long time series of remote sensing images and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) for the period 1981 to 2011. The objectives of the study were to identify semiarid regions showing a marked decrease in potential vegetation activity, indicative of the occurrence of land degradation processes, and t...

Rangeland Degradation Assessment in the South Slope of the Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar, Northeast Libya Using Remote Sensing Technology

The degradation rate of Mediterranean steppes, especially in North Africa is 1% per year, and this considered a high  rate of degradation. This study conducted in 2014 in the south slope of the Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar, northeast Libya to quantify the vegetation recovery rate and assess selected Vegetation Indices (VIs) for mapping rangelands degradation status using remote sensing technology. Throug...

Monitoring Meteorological Drought in Iran Using Remote Sensing and Drought Indices

Drought is a major environmental disaster in many parts of the world. Knowledge about the timing, severity and extentof drought can aid planning and decision-making. Drought indices derived from in-situ meteorological data have coarsespatial and temporal resolutions, thus, obtaining a real-time drought condition over a large area is difficult. This studyused advanced very high resolution radiom...

Drought Effects on Vegetation Changes in Kashkan Basin of Lorestan Using ETM + and OLI Landsat Data

Background and objectives: Vegetation is one of the most important elements of an ecosystem, which is directly related to the moisture conditions of the land. Estimation of plant drought indices such as VCI, TCI, VHI is an effective tool to assess the effects of drought by calculating NDVI. In this regard, several studies have been conducted that explain how to calculate and use these indicator...
